Tentative Route & Itinerary on June 7th

6.45 a.m. - We first take westbound Steeles, pass Warden and Woodbine.

7.30 a.m. - We stop by and have breakfast at the "Shops on Steeles and 404" plaza.

8.15 a.m. - Resume our journey by taking North-west bound Don Mills, passing John St. and then onto North bound Leslie.

8.45 a.m. - Take a left turn onto Huntington park trails, just before hitting 407. The trails will take us to Bayview

9.15 a.m. - Start walking along North-bound Bayview from 407.

10.00 a.m. - Arrive at church and start praying in its precinct.

10.30 a.m. - Leave church and take on east-bound Weldrick.

10.45 a.m. - Move onto Artisan Park trail from Weldrick and Spadina. The trail should take us to Leslie and 16th.

11.15 a.m. - Set off for Warden and 16th

12.15 p.m - Arrive at destination, where we will get a ride back home

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the map above you will notice that there are 2 areas of disconnection. It is due to the fact that the trails we are taking cannot be accessible by cars and hence they cannot be shown in the Google maps.

I never knew such hidden trails until we actually looked into the map. It will be an exciting journey in exploring our neighborhood.

Surprise!

Couple brothers and sisters in the Big Visitation was surprised when they knew that I walked to church from my Scarborough home this morning. Frankly, I believe most of them are capable to do it. Just that they don't know they are able to do it, or they never thought to test where their limit is.

I always ask myself this question. If I were one of the survivors in a catastrophe, would I go back to the place where I escaped from and rescue others who are dying. I really wonder if my love will compel me to do something sacrificially, regardless of whether my loved ones were one of them. I just can't be so sure. That's why I am so admired to see some of the actions of those volunteers in China who offered their help to those whom they might not know. It is no longer a safe place. They should have left the city / village as soon as possible. But they didn't.

Sometimes we ourselves could be surprised by our actions when we happen to be in that situation. The only explanation to that unnatural response is the love God implanted in us.

Tomorrow will be the last day to collect the special donation. But by no means it is the last opportunity that we can give. There are so many various channels around us.

Love stretches our limits to the next level.

I have fulfilled my mission

Thanks God for the nice weather. The wind was not too rough, but enough to make me awake especially when it was 6:00am in the morning.

My route will pass though Hwy 404 and Hwy 407. Nice view from up here.

You can estimate where the sun was from this shallow . Or do you think I met Uncle Long Legs this morning?

Besides the walk itself, I have a little discovery of the things around us, something we usually ignore

I enjoy the environment that we have in here. This is something that we cannot earn, and probably it is a luxury that most people in the other part of the world don't have.

I came to church before 9am, which is actually less than 3 hrs. I am able to go to the Big Visitation on time. Praise the Lord!

可以走多一次, 就會走多一次

Hopefully the weather on this coming Saturday is as good as the forecast.

And if I can get up earlier (this would be the most challenging thing for myself), I want to have a 'drive test' all by myself on this Saturday morning.

I will start my journey at 6am. The Big Visitation gathers at 9:30pm. With pace of 4km / hr, I should be able to complete the race within 3.5 hrs.

I picked a route so that it has few open areas. It is relatively safe especially if I do it alone.

Talking about this drive test, it seems that I am doing that for nothing. I do this, just like what I am planning to do on June 7, solely based on the idea (理念) of "Walk an extra mile" God is given me. I walk, without asking myself whether it is cost effective. That is the whole idea.

The idea of walking

Due to the recent earthquake in China, Felix and I would like to do something for our fellow countrymen.

Our idea is this. We heard there will be a special donation for China from our church last week and this Sunday (May 25). We would like to encourage you to participate in this donation.

You might make your donation over the last few days through various channels. Consider what those people in China have been through, I realize that we can always give little bit more for them.

We will hike from our home in Scarborough to the church. And we are planning to do it in Saturday June 7.

We hope that what we are going to do would inspire you to participate in the coming donation. If we can walk an extra mile for our fellow countrymen in China, you could certainly walk an extra mile in term of giving.

This is not a fellowship event. But you can still partner with us by letting us know your name if you are planning to participate in this special donation on the coming Sunday. Please conceal from us the amount of your donation.

You can sign your name in our blog in the comments section. I will update it from time to time until June 7.
